Create SEO Content Your Users Will Love

What is your niche? When you are creating content for your site and for your readers, SEO tactics should not be the only things in your mind. You have to make sure that you are creating posts and articles for your blog, and for other sites, that people are really going to want. This means that you have to spend some time really understanding your niche so that you can create content that your visitors are going to want to experience.

You already spend time making sure that you have the best Premium WordPress themes and that the look of your site is perfect. It is a good idea to make sure that you actually have content that is going to make people truly love everything about your site. Here, you will find some good ideas on how to create SEO content that can help to make your site shine.

Written Content Onsite and Offsite

When you are writing content for your site, take the time to explore all of the facets of your niche. While you are going to have certain types of topics that you are going to cover with some regularity, it does not mean that all of your articles have to be the same. Consider some other options, such as creating lists, writing reviews, conducting interviews, and having guest posters to your site. These are some of the things that you can do to make familiar content a bit more exciting.

Something else that you are going to want to do is look for some topics that are different from the norm. You want to keep the subject close to your main niche, but you will find that you can explore the periphery of that niche and give your readers something a bit different to enjoy. To be sure, you are going to want to focus on your main niche most of the time, but a bit of exploration outside the comfort zone can be helpful.

This is true when you are writing content that will be directly on your site, as well as articles that are going to appear in different places.

Onsite Video and Audio Content

Many people do not consider the video and audio to be SEO content, but when you are loading the content to your site, you will be able to add tags and titles. These are going to help with your SEO ranking, and having new and different types of content can help to breathe a bit of new life into your site and make it a fun place to be.

When you are creating the audio or video content for your site, make sure that you are creating high quality content that reflects your company in a good light. You will want to have the content on your site, but that’s not the only place that you will want to offer it. For example, if you have video content, you are certainly going to want to add it to video sharing sites, such as YouTube. Make sure you title your video with SEO in mind, and always make sure that you are adding a link back to your site.

Consistent Content Helps with SEO Rank

One of the issues that many individuals and companies have is the fact that they are not able to provide content on a consistent basis. If you want to have people keep coming back to your site, you cannot only offer static content. Make sure that you are able to post with regularity. You might find that hiring an outside source to help with content creation is needed.

Big win for Microsoft: Facebook partnering with Bing for “Graph Search”

While employees at Google may be worried about Facebook’s latest move, the Bing people over at Microsoft are pumping their fists.
That’s because Facebook is partnering with Bing for its new search product called “Graph Search.” Graph Search is all about helping Facebook users search for things their friends have shared. For example, you can find out which restaurants your friends have been frequenting or which grocery store your friends go to most often.
In the case that there are no answers, Facebook is turning to Bing for help. If your Graph Search comes up empty, Facebook will provide Bing results for the web at large. Now your Bing web search results on Facebook will be powered with social context and additional goodies like Facebook pages.
“To the Facebook user, they will not only see useful results, but we think have serendipitous experiences,” Bing writes on this blog post. Imagine searching for Jay-Z concerts on Facebook, and not only finding Facebook content, but also web results from Bing including concert tickets, news about the tour and other web results — annotated with Facebook Likes and Shares. We think this is a powerful combination.” Read more Article>>

When Google's Algorithms Don't Index Your Content

[ Source - Search Engine Roundtable, By:  ]

A Google Webmaster Help thread has one webmaster upset that his index count, compared to the number of pages submitted via his sitemap file is continuously going down, as opposed to up.

One of the best ways to see how many pages Google has indexed of your web site is to upload an XML Sitemap file and compare the URLs submitted to the URLs indexed. If that count is close, that is a good thing. If the number of URLs indexed continues to go up, that is a good thing. If that number continuously goes down, there is likely a problem. Google Data Highlighter Troubleshooting Guide

Googler, Pierre Far, has announced on Google+ that they have produced a "troubleshooting guide" for the new data highlighter tool.
This guide is available over here and contains frequently asked questions on issues one may stumble upon when using the new tool.

Here is the current set up information on that page:
Creating a page set:
  • After I enter my starting URL and click OK, I get a "URL not found" error.
  • When I try to create a custom page set, an error message displays.
  • Data Highlighter doesn't understand my site.
Publishing a page set:
  • Extracted data displays on the Structured Data page, but still no rich snippets are shown in search results.

94% Of Google Penguin Victims Did Not Fully Recover

A few months ago, I ran a poll asking if you recovered from Penguin, Google's link based algorithmic filter/penalty (or whatever you want to call it).
Penguin Recovery Poll
Remember, 64% were hit by the Penguin update - at least, those who responded to my poll. And of those, how many recovered since the first, second and third updates? Not many!

81% said they had no recovery while 13% claim a partial recovery and only 6% claim a full recovery. That is based on over 500 responses to our poll.

I guess we await the next Penguin update to see if anyone can climb out with that one.

Keep in mind, we now have the disavow link tool which may help in this case.

It’s “Top Heavy 2″ As Google Rolls Out Update To Its Page Layout Algorithm

Google has just updated the Page layout algorithm 2 or Top heavy 2 affecting 0.7% of English queries noticeably.

The page layout algorithm, which was introduced in January 2012 to penalize websites with high number of ads above the fold. The decision was taken by Google after receiving complaints from users about more ads on the top or initial visible part of landing pages. There by hampering the user experience.

Updates

It’s the fourth Google update in the past two weeks. The rundown so far:

    Panda Update 20: Sept. 27, 2012
    EMD Update 1: Sept. 28, 2012
    Penguin Update 3: Oct. 5, 2012
Top Heavy 1: Jan. 19, 2012 (impacted less than 1% of English searches)
Top Heavy 2: Oct. 9, 2012 (impacted 0.7% of English searches)

The news was broke by Matt Cutts via a tweet on October 9, 2012.
One thing is clear, whether it is Google AdSense or any other ads, above the fold placement performs the best. And, placing one or two ads with some content above the fold will not be penalized by Google straight away for top heavy algo.
